The Rohrman Sports Association is teaming up with the Jumby Bay Fund to expand the Rohrman into two days with a major sporting festival to be held in Barbuda on the second day.

The Jumby Bay Fund Rohrman Barbuda Day 2 will take place at River Wharf in Barbuda on Sunday March 10, 2019, a day after the AUA Rohrman Antigua Day 1 on Saturday, March 9 at Ffreyes Beach, Antigua.

The feature event of the Rohrman Barbuda is a Walk/Run for Recovery with a 3k and 10k option to make the event accessible for all ages and abilities. The day will also feature a 250 meter swim, 1k swim and 1k beach run. The sporting festival will also feature numerous fun side events including scavenger hunts, tug-o-war, five a side football, dominoes and more.

Through the support of the Jumby Bay Fund, platinum partner the American University of Antigua and the Lady Caroline and Barbuda Express ferries, race entry inclusive of return ferry trips to Barbuda will be subsidized for the non-profit event. Entry for school children 16 and under will be just EC$30, groups of five or more will pay EC$50 each, and general entry will be EC$100.

More than 300 ferry spaces are available and spots are being heavily subsidized in order to make Barbuda accessible and encourage participants to spend while in Barbuda as a way of supporting the economic revitalisation of the island.

The Rohrman Sports Association is also partnering with the Barbuda Council and the Ministry of Sports.

Barbuda Council Chair of Tourism Culture Sport and Youth Affairs Asha Frank said “The Tourism, Culture Sport and Youth affair endorses the Jumby Bay Rohrman event on Barbuda. We encourage events such as these for many reasons. It supports our businesses as we restore our economy after Hurricane Irma and it encourages fitness in our community.  We endeavour to support the event in the best way we can and look forward to March 2019”.

The Jumby Bay Fund Rohrman Barbuda aims to forge greater unity between Barbudans and Antiguans through sport, demonstrate the existing potential for sports tourism in Barbuda, provide a quality sporting event for the benefit of Barbudans, create a short-term stimulus to the Barbudan economy post-Irma, and provide added momentum to the rebuilding efforts post-Irma.

The AUA Rohrman Triathlon Antigua Day 1, which takes place a day earlier, features 10 triathlons including a feature Olympic distance triathlon over a 1,500m swim, 40km bike, and 10km run.
