The airline confirmed to Barbados TODAY that the technical issue led to a precautionary shutdown of one of the plane’s engines, but the aircraft landed safely and passengers were being accommodated on another flight.
Flight tracking data showed the plane, which departed at 1:15 p.m. for the Grantley Adams International Airport, making several loops just east of Dominica before returning to the airport.
“The incident occurred minutes after takeoff when the pilot detected an anomaly in one of the aircraft’s engines,” interCaribbean said in a statement. “Adhering to our standard operating protocols, the captain shut down the affected engine as a precautionary measure and returned to Marigot where the aircraft landed without further incident. Emergency procedures were implemented, and emergency services were on standby as the aircraft landed safely.”
“An aircraft is currently en route to Marigot to accommodate customers affected on this flight,” it added.
