Prime Minister Browne says while no formal discussions have been held, his son, Gaston Browne III about entering politics, he mas many positive attributes, which make him good candidate material.

On the Browne and Browne Show on Pointe FM on Saturday, a caller asked the Prime Minister if his son or ABS Television Anchor Shermain Jeremy were being considered as possible replacements for Asot Michael.

“What I’ll say here is we’ve not had any discussions and Gaston Browne III never held any discussions with me or any person about running in Parham or any constituency,” PM Browne said on Pointe FM.

“I have to admit that in terms of candidate material he will make a great candidate, I have no doubt about that. Based on his educational standing, the fact too now that he’s a successful businessman and he has great physical presence.”

The Prime Minister also said he would not encourage his son to run, while he is serving.

On the other hand, the Prime Minister said he has had a discussion with Shermain Jeremy about the possibility of her running in the event “comrade Asot Michael ends up in any trouble with the law.”

“If comrade Asot Michael is charged for any criminal action he will not be able to run on a Labour Party ticket and would be replaced, and we always have to be prepared for any eventuality,” the ABLP Leader said.

“And I personally would have said to Shermain Jeremy that she has the type of capacity as a professional young Antigua lady to serve. Her father, the Honourable Longford Jeremy would have served in that constituency so she has pedigree, she has legitimacy, she’s educated, very smart, great presence, good character.

“And in the unlikely event that comrade Asot Michael were to be charged criminally then she’s one of the individuals who would pursue to run. But as it stands now he’s not been charged criminally and if that case falls away — which it appears as though is what is happening — then comrade Asot Michael will remain as the candidate,” Browne added.

In Oct. 2017, Prime Minister Browne announced that he had advised the Governor General, Sir Rodney Williams  to revoke the appointment from the Cabinet, of the then Tourism and Investment Minister, Asot Michael, pending the outcome of his arrest by the Metropolitan Police in London.

But Michael was allowed to run as a candidate in the St Peters constituency in the March 2018 general elections and subsequently secured a cabinet portfolio as Minister of Investment and Trade.

However, by May 2018 Michael resigned from the Cabinet after a recording surfaced in the United Kingdom High Court of him demanding payments and gifts from British investor, Peter Virdee.

  1. Filthy corrupt animals. Gaston.brown you and family them plan to stay in office forever…. You worthless piece a shit

    • I could not have said it any better Karine. He and his family are planning to sell out the entire Antigua and Barbuda to the white massa grandchildren and turn us the inhabitants back into slaves. Gaston and his family already have their homes oversea just incase his party lost the government in the next general election. One of his comrade/minister already have his family living in England and America.

  2. I am so sick and fed up of Gaston Browne .Some people go into politics like they want to help Antiguans, but no they must help themselves and their families that is what this is all about. What shitting son now wants to run for.politics.So this is another family dynasty.Okay Antigua enrichment scheme. How can I become a member of Antigua enrichment scheme company.Antigua sweet bad.Are we Antiguans fooly bad.Me done wake up long time.Pls call the election.

  3. I am so sick and fed up of Gaston Browne .Some people go into politics like they want to help Antiguans, but no they must help themselves and their families that is what this is all about. What shitting son now wants to run for.politics.So this is another family dyn hiasty.Okay Antigua enrichment scheme. How can I become a member of Antigua enrichment scheme company.Antigua sweet bad.Are we Antiguans fooly bad.Me done wake up long time.Pls call the election.

  4. Nepotism 101 with Professor Gaston Browne. How to stack your Cabinet with family members who do your bidding and will not challenge your leadership. Imagine having Minister G Money (aka Gaston Browne III) in charge of Public Works contracts. Maria is already in charge of distributing Government lands.

    • Next he will be looking for another family member to be in charge of Custom Division and Tourism…two of government biggest revenue machines. All Gaston Browne sees is dollar signs and he wants more of it and to hell with the people and the country development.

  5. So you are telling me Antigua and Barbuda is likely to be a Brown family budiness? Y’all not see what’s going on here. Y’all are some real dodo birds if u vote these people back into power.

  6. Not sure if this is any different to the Bird dynasty, not saying that I agree. Antiguans need to embrace a new kind of politics and not the usual “ I belong to labor, because … or I belong to this other party because…”. Antiguans must now see country and not just self and what my family will get. There are too many educated, well intentioned citizens to allow this kind of ill gotten gains politicians to destroy such a beautiful country. It’s hurting my heart.

  7. Clearly inherited politics at work here. So Ms. Jeremy’s dad was a politicians and by that very fact she should consider running? Gaston’s son would make a good candidate so that fact qualifies him to be a candidate? And let’s not forget his stepmother is also a politician, therefore he is twice qualified to become a candidate?
Ah since when Antigua people become so stupid that politics has blinded you? Please, wake up and rescue your country? And pray while doing so , because before this is all over the Browns will take over.

  8. The Birds’ dynasty disappeared into oblivion in this presentparty, ABLP. However, up came the Browne’s dynasty out of it’s ashes! The saga continues!

  9. I would appreciate if the author of this story amend it to read exactly what was said. I never said that my son is likely to be a possible candidate for St Peter; that’s a fabrication.

I made it abundantly clear, that he never had any discussion with me, or any other about running, despite his positive attributes which makes him good candidate material.

I also stated categorically that I would not encourage him to run, while I am serving.

I would therefore, appreciate an amendment to this article to reflect exactly what was said.

My comments can be found on yesterday’s Browne & Browne show, as a reference.

For those who are speaking about a family dynasty, you need to calm down. I have no such ego, or aspiration.

    Blessed Sunday

      • My son never indicated any interest to anyone about running. Contrary to your view, he has a most appealing disposition, with the intellectual capacity, integrity and success, that would make him far more appealing than all of the present UPP candidates.

I am so happy that he is firmly aligned with the ABLP; I would be very worried if we had a young successful person like him as a political opponent.

        • What really is his intellectual capacity that would make him more appealing or even suitable than any one of the UPP candidates. I will just use Alister Thomas as an example, since you like to say that Alister is a high school dropout. My dear Sir despite being high school dropout, which is not the case, Alister can run intellectual circles around your son and can give him a solid education even more that he got from Monroe College in New York.

          • Mr Tabor, you asserted that Alister is not a high school drop out. I challenge you to prove your assertion.

        • Hope this comment gets reported for impersonating the pm because no pm would chat such rubbish

        • Upp candidates are not corrupt and that is all we need …. look at the e books Michael Browne should be arrested and charged bunch of

  10. This sounds like another conversation that was held prior to the last general elections: and I quote: I didn’t even know that my wife was Interested In running for political office, 1It was never discussed with me.” A wha could a cause this Lord?? Money?? More Money.

  11. Charge by who? The police in antigua can’t touch asot so by whom.
The British government gave the antiguan police the evidence and not up to now.

  12. Gaston Browne you are so full of SHIT! we know that is why you want to give the thief Molwyn Joseph a Knighthood for him bowing out to make way for your son.
