The Opening Ceremony will feature three innovative Caribbean change-makers: Antiguan, Commissioner Dion Irish, Chief of Operations for the City of Boston, MA, Ms. Mickela Panday, former M.P. from Trinidad and Tobago and Dr. Thomson Fontaine, Political Leader of the UWP in Dominica. There will also be remarks by Senator Damion Crawford from Jamaica, Hon. Trevor Walker, M.P. for Barbuda and UPP Political Leader Hon. Jamale Pringle.
Chair of the Convention Planning Committee, Harold Lovell, describes Convention Week as a platform for education, inspiration and collaboration. He is pleased with the activities that have been staged thus far, that include: a Thanksgiving Service, Media Day, and Games Night.
“This will be a unifying event that will highlight our Party’s accomplishments and our vision for the future. It will be an opportunity to witness democracy in action as we chart the course to victory. Our members and supporters are energized to work together to create a better future that will uplift all Antiguans and Barbudans.” Lovell said.
The general public is invited to the Opening Ceremony. The event will also be live streamed via Progressive Radio, Observer Radio and UPP social media channels. It will feature entertainment by Kutting Eddge Band and is expected to attract hundreds of attendees and viewers.
Convention Week will end with the business session on Sunday April 21, with the election of a new Central Executive Committee, which will run the UPP’s affairs for the next two years.
