(REAL News) — An intruder was scared away by a homeowner who caught him inside his house in the late-afternoon hours as he apparently was intent on robbery.
Reports say the Barnes Hill victim telephoned the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) and complained that his house had been broken into on November 1, at about 5:15 p.m.
The homeowner claims that he was lying in bed when he saw a male, about 5’ 6” tall, approximately 110 pounds, and of a dark complexion enter the room. The intruder reportedly was wearing a white T-shirt and dark-coloured pants.
The victim then called out to the perpetrator, who fled the scene, leaving behind a knife and a slipper. And although the victim gave chase, the intruder was able to elude him. Later, a search was carried out for the alleged offender, but without success.
The alleged thief apparently had gained entry through a northern bedroom door that was closed but not locked.
Meanwhile, the Police are investigating a burglary that occurred at a Bay Street, Villa, residence.
Reports are that a Bellevue Estate woman reported to the CID that her mother’s house had been broken into on November 2, at about 2:14 a.m.
Apparently, the homeowner had been forced to install security cameras because her house had been broken into the day before.
On the day in question, she was alerted to the fact that someone was inside when the alarm was triggered. She then checked the cameras and observed that there were several unknown men inside the
house.
The intruders reportedly had used an implement to pry open a metal and foam kitchen door and gain entry into the house.
