In a world where many young people are motivated to EARN money, financial literacy can help them LEARN how to manage money. SamuelFields Consulting Group (SFCG) a Community Financial eLearning partner, will host the second YOLO Summit on September 22 & 23. This Youth Opportunities, Lessons and Outcomes conference will help the youth strengthen their “money mindset” using a range of learning tools. They will develop practical skills that will be invaluable in building a strong financial future. CLICK HERE TO JOIN OUR WHATSAPP GROUP FOR NEWS UPDATES.

SFCG will partner with Pockets Change, a US based award-winning group of finance educators, to host the YOLO Summit. The theme of the conference, “Find Your Financial Rhythm,” will help participants tune into their money values, using music and culture as key learning tools.  As a part of its mission, Dyalekt, one of the founders of Pockets Change, incorporates rhythms and rhymes as a way to convey a strong financial message. This Cruzan native will focus on how the youth can cultivate better daily habits and achieve their financial goals using Caribbean and Hip Hop music as their primary motivation.

As a prelude to the YOLO Summit, SFCG launched the Youth Financial Ambassadors Program (YFAP) last Wednesday during its weekly show Likklle Byte Ideas. A group of young people ages 15 – 35 assembled for a frank discussion about money management and their financial future. The event was hosted at the Wright Room in Fitches Creek, by H. Wright, proprietor of this establishment and the first Youth Finance Ambassador to be appointed to the program.

Over the next few weeks, the Ambassadors will participate in interactive workshops, hands-on activities, and media events. They will learn how to identify their Money Personality and Money Mantras and become advocates for financial literacy. The program is open to young people who are interested in learning more about personal finance, gaining professional development skills, and exploring entrepreneurship opportunities.

“Young Antiguans and Barbudans are hungry for opportunities for financial empowerment and these participants were engaged and excited to discuss their future financial goals. When it comes to the topic of money, our youth really get into it. They want to learn more about money so that they can make more of it. This program is designed to help broaden their understanding of personal finance and we are excited about the opportunity to mentor and coach these promising young minds,” said Megan Samuel-Fields, CEO of SFCG. “They will learn about some of the tools they can use now and, in the future, to make sound financial decisions.”

As part of the YOLO Summit, Youth Finance Ambassadors will help coordinate events, lead financial discussions and workshops and develop valuable financial knowledge and skills that will give them a solid foundation for economic success. They will also receive a Certificate of Achievement for their participation in the program. The conference will focus on a range of topics including: savings, banking, budgeting, investment, and entrepreneurship, in a practical and collaborative setting. The youth will record their insights and put their financial aspirations to music, thereby motivating their peers to approach money management with greater enthusiasm and confidence.
