Today Saturday May 15, the Ministry of Health and Wellness received confirmation from the Ezra Long Laboratory of 30 new cases of COVID-19.
This is from a total of 239 samples taken during the period May 11 to May 14.
These samples were processed on May 14.
These individuals were seen at various community respiratory clinics where they were assessed and tested for COVID-19.
In-keeping with the national COVID-19 testing protocol, they were each placed in home quarantine by healthcare practitioners while awaiting the return of their COVID-19 test results.
Arrangements have since been made to place these newly diagnosed individuals in isolation. The contact tracing for these new cases is underway.
Confirmation was also received of the recovery of 5 individuals bringing the total number of active cases in country to date to 222.
Presently, two of the active cases are requiring critical care at the Respiratory Hospital.

As of May 14, 2021 a total of 26, 200 individuals have received the first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine and 16, 626 individuals have received the second dose.
In the coming week, the health team will be administering the COVID-19 vaccine at the various vaccination sites around the island.
Individuals 18 years and older for the first dose of the vaccine and individuals receiving the second dose of the vaccine can also take advantage and access this service at the mobile vaccination pop-up sites.
