Mum breaks down in court as she tells how her son, 14, burst into tears as he claimed he’d been raped by social media influencer, 46

(Daily Mail) — The mother of a 14-year-old boy has broken down in court as she recalled how her son couldn’t stop crying when he alleged to her that he was raped by a woman more than three times his age.

She took to the stand on Thursday to testify in the New South Wales (NSW) District Court trial for her son’s alleged abuser, a 46-year-old social media influencer who cannot be identified.

The woman has pleaded not guilty to two counts of aggravated sexual intercourse with a child under 16 years old.

She is accused of sneaking into the teen’s bed on an evening in early 2021 and engaging in oral and penetrative sex with him.

More than a year after the alleged assault, the court heard the teen broke down into tears and told his mother that he’d been raped.

‘He was in the lounge room and all of a sudden, he just completely burst into tears,’ she told the court while sobbing.

‘I’ve never seen him cry like that before.’

Her voice cracked with emotion as she told the jury her son was ‘shaking (with) tears’, and ‘couldn’t control himself’.

When his mother comforted him and asked what was wrong, the 14-year-old kept repeating ‘you don’t understand’.

‘He went on to tell me that he’d been raped and I just lost it,’ she told the court with a shaky voice.

‘He was just so devastated. I was so devastated.’

At one point, the boy’s mother was overcome with emotion and had to leave the courtroom to collect herself.

Crown prosecutor Emma Blizard asked her to clarify whether her son had used the word ‘raped’ or if it had been her word choice.

‘He said the word raped again and said she’d come in and raped him,’ the mother confirmed through tears.

‘He was sobbing, I was sobbing, we would have been crying for hours. It was awful.’

After encouragement from his mother, the teen revealed the woman had given him ‘some glasses of wine’ on an evening in early 2021 and they had danced together.

He told his mother the 46-year-old woman later sexually assaulted him.

The woman’s lawyer Phillip Boulten SC previously told jurors the influencer admitted to kissing the teen while drunk but denied going any further.

In his opening address, he stressed the teen’s sexual assault allegations had arisen after he got into trouble at school on Friday and feared he would be suspended.

On Thursday, Mr Boulten asked the boy’s mother about a statement she made to police in which she said he told her about the allegations on a Thursday in mid-2022.

The court heard the teen had gotten into trouble on Friday and was collected by his mother, before telling her about the alleged sexual assault on Saturday afternoon.

The mother acknowledged it had been ‘a mistake’ to attribute the emotional revelation to the day before her son got into trouble at school as opposed to the following day.

She noted she had not included details about the teen’s school issues in her first statement, but told the court that she had rectified both errors in an amended version.

Earlier on Thursday, a teacher at the teen’s school told the jury that his teachers had been ‘worried’ about him.

‘He said he’s had insomnia for the last month,’ one of the teachers wrote in an email.

When questioned by a nurse, the teen admitted he had been ‘very stressed’ in recent weeks.

He got into trouble and was collected by his mother from school on the Friday, a day before he broke down in tears and told her about the sexual assault allegations.

The trial continues before Judge Sarah Hopkins on Friday.
