Akeem Isaac, 21 years-old, joins TSV Solingen in Group 2 of the District League on a four (4) month trial with the German outfit. They sit currently 5th in the standings on eight-teen (18)points, eleven (11) points from the group leaders.

Isaac hails from the Pigotts Bullets Football Academy where he made his way through the ranks and into the Premier Division side’s regular fixtures. He was a regular feature in the last Premier division season and was a member of the nation youth U20 men’s team. He recalls how the opportunity came about and what he has been doing to get ready.

“Chesley Brown of old road, we have been close ever since I came onto the football scene, he approached me with this opportunity then we started talking about it. Fitness wise, I’ve been doing personal training evenings after work” he said.

“For me this is a great opportunity not only for me but for my family and the country. My goals are to be the best player that I know I can be to impress anyone watching me, develop my game all round, help any team that I play for, and most of all showcase my talents so I can make it to the big leagues” Isaac stated.

Isaac’s mom spoke about her feelings towards her son’s move to Germany. “Honestly it’s definitely mixed emotions. I know he definitely deserves this chance because he’s had 3 different scholarship opportunities that he didn’t get the chance to experience due to the visa issue, but I can tell you Chesley Browne has never stopped searching for opportunities for him in Europe that he could still have a chance. I’m definitely nervous as it’s been me and him forever but what I can tell you is that this has been him since grassroot age and he has not left it since. I support him always I’m his #1 fan as you know, so whatever I’m feeling doesn’t even measure up to what it feels like to be able to help him further his dreams”, she said.

Akeem’s departure is one of many opportunities that was afforded to young footballers from our small twin island state through Mr. Chesley Browne.
