The Government of Antigua and Barbuda says it is confident the auction of the Alfa Nero superyacht will proceed as planned tomorrow. This is despite two separate applications for emergency injunctions within the last 24 hours from entities and individuals claiming an ownership interest in the luxury vessel. Attorney General Steadroy Benjamin tells ABS News the authorities are unfazed by the latest developments.
Attorney Andrew O’Kola filed an application for an emergency injunction in the Court of Appeal on Wednesday, claiming his clients are owners of the vessel.
Meanwhile, attorneys for a Russian citizen, Yulia Gurieva-Motlokhov filed an application for an injunction on Thursday afternoon in the High Court, saying their client has an interest in the vessel through a trust company in Jersey Island.
The auction is scheduled for 10am on Friday, with ownership to go to the person or entity presenting the highest of the sealed bids.
