Antigua and Barbuda names delegation to the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham England

The Antigua and Barbuda Commonwealth Games Association announces the delegation to the 2022 Commonwealth Games to be held in Birmingham UK, 28th July – 8th August. CLICK HERE TO JOIN OUR WHATSAPP GROUP FOR NEWS UPDATES.

Antigua Barbuda is fielding a star-studded lineup in the sports of Swimming, Athletics, Boxing and Cycling in this edition of the Games.

The ABCGA Board selected Joel Rayne as the Chef de Mission. Rayne is highly experience in this field after a very successful Mission at the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games and other outings.

Joel will be ably assisted by Karen Joseph who will attend as Team Manager / Chaperone. Office Assistant, Ti-Anna Harris will attend as Administrative Assistant.

The Antigua and Barbuda selected the following Swimmers in the various event:

  • CCAN, Gold & Silver Medalist – Stefano Mitchell – Men’s 50m Freestyle & 100m Freestyle
  • CCAN Silver medalist and Carifta Gold medalist – Ethan Stubbs-Green – Men’s 100m Butterfly & 200m Butterfly
  • Caribbean Games Double Gold Medalist – Jadon Wuilliez – Men’s 50m Breaststroke & 100m Breaststroke
  • Olympic Scholarship Holder – Olivia Fuller – Women’s 50m Freestyle & 100m Freestyle

The Swimming team will be Official Wayne Mitchell.

The Antigua and Barbuda Athletics Association selected the following Athletes in the various events:

  • National 100m Champion – Cejhae Greene – Men’s 100m & 200m
  • Caribbean Games Bronze Medalist – Darion Skerritt – 200m
  • National 100m & 200m Record holder – Joella Lloyd – Women’s 100m & 200m
  • US based distance runner – Kalique St. Jean – Men’s 800m & 1500m
  • National Triple Jumper – Taeco O’Garro – Triple Jump & Long Jump

The Athletics team Official will be Evans “Jawakie” Jones

The Antigua and Barbuda Boxing Association selected the following Boxers in the various events:

  • Panam Games Bronze medalist, Olympian – Alston Ryan – Men’s 60kg – 63.5kg (Light Welterweight)
  • New comer – Kagra Ryan – Women’s 70kg – 75kg (Middleweight)

The Boxing team Official will be Ralston Ryan.

The Antigua and Barbuda Cycling Federation selected the following Cyclists in the various events:

  • National Road Champion – Jyme Bridges – Track Cycling Men’s 40km Points Race, 15km Scratch Race & Men’s Road Race
  • US based and former National Champion – Conor Delanbanque – Track Cycling Men’s 40k Points Race, 15k Scratch Race, Men’s Road Race and Individual Time Trial

The Cycling team Official will be St. Clair Williams

The team will depart Antigua and various states of the United States on 26th July and return on 9th August 2022.

The CGA President, E. P. Chet Greene, Secretary General, Cliff Williams and Treasurer, Yolanda Samuel will also be attending the Games and the General Assembly slated to take place 26th July 2022, at the Grand Hotel in Birmingham, England.

Assignment Title: Senior Operating Officer (SOO)

The Governments of Antigua and Barbuda, Commonwealth of Dominica, Grenada, St. Lucia and St. Vincent and the Grenadines have received financing in the amount of US$10 million equivalent from the World Bank towards the cost of establishing a partial credit guarantee scheme, and they intend to apply part of the proceeds to payments for goods, and consulting services to be procured under this project. 

The consultant will serve as the “Senior Operating Officer (SOO)” for the ECPCGC and should possess extensive knowledge of MSME lending with some direct experience lending to Micro, small and medium-sized businesses, knowledge of the internal control processes necessary for a lending operation and the ability to design and implement risk mitigation procedures. The ideal candidate should possess an Undergraduate Degree from a reputable college or university, preferably in Business, Accounting, Banking or related field, with a minimum of 5 years’ experience in lending, inclusive of MSME lending. The initial employment period will be for two years on a contractual basis. Renewal of the contract will be subject to a performance evaluation at the end of the contractual period. The assignment is expected to begin on September 30th, 2021.  The consultant will report directly to the Chief Executive Officer of the ECPCGC.

The Eastern Caribbean Partial Credit Guarantee Corporation (ECPCGC) now invites eligible “Consultants” to indicate their interest in providing the Services. Interested Consultants should provide information demonstrating that they have:

  • An Undergraduate Degree from a reputable college or university, preferably in Business, Finance, Banking or related field; and
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in MSME lending. Applicants should also have:
  • The ability to design and implement risk management procedures 
  • Extensive knowledge of MSME lending with some direct experience lending to small and medium-sized businesses
  • Extensive knowledge of MSME banking operations
  • Knowledge of the internal controls necessary for a lending operation and the ability to design and implement risk management procedures
  • Experience developing and presenting information in public, including responding to questions in real-time
  • Experience lending to MSMEs located in the ECCU
  • Knowledge of marketing and communicating with the MSME sector
  • Ability to draft procedures to be used in a lending operation
  • Familiarity with the mechanics of a loan guarantee program
  • Exceptional written, oral, interpersonal, and presentation skills, and
  • Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office suite.

The attention of interested Individual Consultants is drawn to Section III, Paragraphs 3.14, 3.16, and 3.17 of the World Bank’s Procurement Regulations for IPF Borrowers July 2016, [revised November 2017] (“Procurement Regulations”), setting forth the World Bank’s policy on conflict of interest. A Consultant will be selected in accordance with the Approved Selection Method for Individual Consultants set out in the clause 7.34 of the World Bank Procurement Regulations for IPF Borrowers.
