Nicole Christian, Ph. D., NCC, LAC has earned a Doctor of Philosophy degree in Counselor Education from Montclair State University.
She is a proud Antiguan and the only child of Daisy Christian of Fitches-Creek.
Dr. Christian is a past student of the Foundation Mixed School, St. John’s Catholic Primary School, and Antigua Girls’ High School.
She attributes much of her success to the discipline and high standard of education that she received as a student in Antigua Dr. Christian’s scholarship and counseling expertise are in the areas of same gender loving and transgender individuals, religion/spirituality in counseling practices, and multicultural counseling and competence.
Her dissertation explored the identity development of same-gender loving West Indians and she plans to author a book on this topic in the near future.
During her tenure as a Doctoral candidate, she has earned a position in Chi Sigma lota, the international honor society of professional counseling, and Alpha Epsilon Lambda, the interdisciplinary honor society which confers distinction to high-achieving graduate students.
Dr. Christian is a National Certified Counselor (NCC), a Licensed Associate Counselor (LAC), and a licensed school counselor in the State of New Jersey. With a real passion for working with adolescents, Dr. Christian is a school counselor at a large vocational high school in New Jersey.
She is also an adjunct professor in the prestigious Master’s Degree Counseling programs of two universities, and considers herself to be a passionate social justice advocate.
She currently serves as an executive team member of Intersect Antigua, a feminist collective committed to gender justice and centering the needs and experiences of those most marginalized in Antigua and other Caribbean societies.
Dr. Christian’s degree was conferred in August 2020 and her achievements were celebrated at Montclair State University’s commencement ceremony on Friday June 11th, which was originally postponed due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
Her success was welcomed by Intersect.
