Health Minister Molywn Joseph is warning against complacency in light of the “tremendous progress” made in the fight against COVID-19.
“Let me make it very clear, the fight against COVID-19 is not over, it’s not over,” Joseph said at a news conference today.
“The fact that we have gone approximately 12 days without any new case of COVID, we must recognize that the war against COVID might just be the beginning.”
Joseph said the government will have to reopen the economy at some point, noting that when this happens, “there will be more people mingling and more opportunity for the spread of COVID-19.”
“The people of Antigua and Barbuda must recognize that they have an even greater role to play in maintaining this progress and to eliminate COVID-19 from our society,” he said.
To date, Antigua and Barbuda has recorded 24 laboratory confirmed cases of COVID-19, representing approximately 25 per cent of the 97 samples sent for testing in Trinidad.
Of the 24 cases, 58 per cent were males.
Most of the patients were in the 70 to 79 age group.
Two patients remain in critical condition in the intensive care unit while 11 people have recovered.

The 24th case of COVID-19 was confirmed last Tuesday.
That’s less that 12 days ago
12 days 🥴🥴👋👋
I wonder, could be lies.
NO NEW CASES BECAUSE ONLY 113 PERSONS OUT FROM A POPULATION OF 120000 HAS BEEN TESTED. STOP TRYING TO FOOL THE PUBLIC. JUST TELL THE TRUTH ABOUT THE LAB IN ANTIGUA
Turks Lee . I couldn’t agree more. It seems like a deliberate attempt to keep the official numbers low so they can open the borders for $$$$$$$
What worries me is the article which noted that one of the sudden deaths were COVID-19 positive. We can’t boast yet.
