Kofi Nyarko wrote the Lions Club of Antigua for financial assistance after he had to travel to Jamaica to be examined by a Cardiologist.
Subsequent to the examination, he was informed that he has to undergo heart surgery as soon as possible and the operation could not be done in Jamaica, but could be done at Health City located in neighbouring Cayman Island at a cost of US$22,500.00.
Nyarko’s finances were already depleted at this time after a number of doctor visits and overseas travel. He reached out to family and friends for assistance, but fell short of his required target. One of his friends later advised him to write a letter to the Lions Club and ask them for help, this he did.
Upon receipt of the letter both Lions Virgil Daniel MJF and Gladston Joseph MJF visited Nyarko to carry out their investigation to determine what the Lions Club will do, if anything, about his situation.
After both Lions heard of his unfortunate situation, they reported his case to their Board and recommended that the club assist Mr. Nyarko. The Board approved the committee’s recommendation of US$1,635.00.
The Lions Club of Antigua wished Mr. Nyarko all the best for a successful surgery and a speedy recovery.
