Nkomo Thomas of Fort Road was granted bail in the sum of $400,000 on multiple drug charges in St. Johns Magistrate’s Court on Monday.
Thomas appeared before Chief Magistrate Walsh charged with Possession of 1175 ecstasy tablets, Importation of ecstasy, Possession of ecstasy tablets with intent to transfer and being concerned in the supplying of ecstasy.
He was ordered to pay a cash component of $50,000 and provide two sureties, as well as to surrender his travel documents before he can secure bail. In addition, he is to report to St. Johns Police Station on Monday, Wednesday and Saturday between the hours of 6 am and 6 pm.
Thomas was apprehended last Friday at the General Post Office, during a Drugs Interdiction Operation between Customs and Narcotics Department.
Two sealed packages of mixed nuts with ecstasy tablets concealed inside of them were found in a cardboard box.
The illegal substance carries an estimated street value of EC$117,500. He is expected to return to Court on August 20, 2020.
